“The Power of Impromptu Speaking” Lunch & Learn

The Carthage Chamber of Commerce and Greater Joplin Toastmasters invite Chamber members ages 21-40 to participate in this Lunch & Learn, as they discuss how to harness the power of impromptu speaking. Practical exercises and tips to make you shine the next time you are asked to speak on the spur of the moment.

Christmas Open House & Small Business Saturday
Deadline to participate in Christmas Open House and Small Business Saturday is Tuesday, October 16. This year Carthage will have the excitement of Christmas Open House AND the excitement of Small Business Saturday.  While one may work better for your business type we would love to have you for both. A couple changes from last year include a combo price for both, the addition of an Experiences focus for our service businesses to sell gift card or gift certificates on the weekend between Open House and Small Business Saturday, a wider focus on all the retail/food service/service/small businesses of Carthage, the addition of marketing on Instagram and Twitter, and a gorgeous bi-fold brochure that is going to feature every Christmas related thing I can find from November 9-December 25. Mercy Health Foundation Joplin is kicking off Breast Cancer Awareness Month in style with its popular breast cancer awareness T-shirts and Pink Fridays.  Shirts will be available during the month of October inside the Mercy Gift Shop (second floor gallery), and at Sister’s Health Boutique (cancer center entrance) during normal business hours.

Along with Pink Friday activities, Salon 529 will be in the Mercy Hospital Joplin gallery from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 5 and Oct. 19 doing pink hair extensions for $10 and chair massages at $1 per minute. All proceeds will go toward the Mercy Health Foundation mammography funds.
