Official Maple Leaf Artwork Chosen

The 52nd annual Maple Leaf Festival planning committee has selected the winning artwork for the festival. Area artists, students, and residents were asked to submit work to represent this year’s theme “Magic of Maple Leaf”.

Chamber staffer Mary Jo Little submitted the winning design. The artwork features a giant orange maple leaf emblazoned with the theme and surrounded by swirls of stars. The artwork will appear in coordinating marketing, including the official brochure for the annual city celebration including events spanning 7 glorious fall weeks in Carthage, and will also be printed on official festival gear.

Festival Co-Chair Alice Chorum said “The committee voted on the artwork without knowing the artists of any of the pieces and Mary Jo’s piece was by far the design that best embodied the theme.” Chorum’s Co-Chair Jeanine Poe added “When we found out that the artwork was submitted by Mary Jo, we were proud of the Chamber staff’s Maple Leaf spirit!” Upon being advised of the win, Little said “I am no professional artist, but the Maple Leaf Festival simply inspires me.  This year’s theme particularly tickled my fancy, so thank you to the Maple Leaf Committee for loving my artwork.”
